The Southern Diocese of the Free Church of England gives thanks for the ordination of the Rev’d Andrew Ormond to the presbyterate, which took place at St Jude’s Church, Balham, London.
The service was conducted by the Right Rev’d Dr Paul Hunt, Bishop Primus of the Free Church of England and Bishop of th Southern Diocese, with the assistance of the Right Rev’d Dr Mark Gretason, the Right Rev’d Dr Jabson Watson, the Rev’d Canon Dr Mark Spiers, the Rev’d Dr John Deane-O’Keeffe and the Rev’d Ambrose Oliver.
The sermon was preached by the Rev’d Canon Dr Mark Spiers, who reflected on John 21:15–17, in which the risen Christ commissions Peter to care for His flock. This passage provided a fitting reflection on the responsibilities of ordained ministry and the calling to serve Christ and His Church faithfully.
The service included readings from 1 Peter 5:1–11, read by the Rev’d Dr John Deane-O’Keeffe, and from John’s Gospel, read by the Right Rev’d Dr Jabson Watson.
The Rev’d Andrew was ordained as a deacon at St Andrew’s Church, Bentley, in November 2024. Following his ordination to the presbyterate, he will now serve as Minister at Christ Church, Harlesden, continuing his ministry within the Free Church of England.
The Southern Diocese extends its warm congratulations to the Rev’d Andrew and prays that God will guide and strengthen him as he undertakes this new stage of ministry. May his service at Christ Church, Harlesden, be a blessing to the congregation and the wider community.
Please join us in praying for the Rev’d Andrew as he begins this next chapter in his ministry.
